Today’s standard navigation package consists of instruments, GPS, radar, autopilot, navigation computer with electronic charts and AIS. The standard communication package consists of VHF, Inmarsat-C, Inmarsat Fleet, VSATand a communication server. Connected to the dedicated communication server, the ship’s LAN network (also with wireless access points) provides broadband Internet and e-mail access to all users on board, including guests. With today’s wireless connections to shore, an ideal communication package can be made. Thanks to the user-friendly application software, the captain can easily select the desired communication mode.
